An interview with our CEO, Yosuke Iwai, has been published in the economic media outlet “Venture.jp.”
In the article, he discusses the business strategy behind YOHΛKU TOKYO — which has transformed daruma from a seasonal product into a year-round brand — and our business model combining B2C gift and interior offerings for inbound travelers with B2B custom novelty production (OEM) for corporate clients.
The article also covers his prior experience expanding matcha internationally, the global potential of daruma's spiritual demand and its “me-ire” (eye-painting) culture, his management philosophy centered on evidence-based decision-making and lean startup principles, and the challenges of raising funding for investment in traditional crafts.
We hope you'll take a look.

YUTORIA Inc. officially launched the daruma brand YOHΛKU TOKYO on August 7, 2026 — a project aimed at rewriting the conventions of daruma and translating Japanese tradition through a contemporary lens.
The brand name “YOHΛKU” comes from the Japanese word for “blank space” (yohaku), carrying the brand message “Fill your space. Find your world.” Rather than treating daruma merely as a good-luck charm, this project reworks it into a gift, an interior piece, and an everyday companion that reflects one's wishes and intentions.
We are launching five collections, each carrying its own distinct world.
YOHAKU (Zen and wabi-sabi — black and white), KANAGI (the sea of Japan and elegance — blue and gold), GAL (Y2K spirit and gal culture — pink and hearts), NIGIWAI (Tokyo's energy and pop culture — black and crimson), and YUI (connecting people, wishes, and daily life — crimson and gold).
Prices start at ¥5,000 (tax included). Available at our official online store (yohakutokyo.com).
Each daruma is hand-painted by artisans along its curved surface. Rather than mechanical printing, this process creates subtle differences unique to each piece — part of what makes YOHΛKU TOKYO special.
We are seeking wholesale partners including select shops, hotels and ryokan, museum shops, department stores, and overseas retailers. Inquiries about corporate gifts and collaborations are also welcome.

YUTORIA Inc. has launched Daruma Times, a specialist media outlet that shares the appeal of daruma — a traditional part of Japanese culture — with audiences in Japan and abroad.
Daruma have long been cherished as good-luck charms. Passed down across Japan, they’ve stood beside people at life’s turning points — exam success, business prosperity, elections, new ventures, and achieving one’s goals.
At the same time, many people today don't fully know what daruma mean, aren't sure where to buy them, or find it hard to tell the different regions and types apart.
That's why we launched Daruma Times: to reframe daruma not merely as good-luck charms, but as a cultural presence spanning Japanese culture, craft, design, gifting, and inbound tourism — and to share their appeal in a way that's easy to understand.
Daruma Times covers everything from daruma basics to regional characteristics, the meaning of colors and sizes, where to buy them, how to choose one as a gift, international interest in daruma, and trends in contemporary daruma design.
Whether you're discovering daruma for the first time or already a fan, we aim to be a media outlet that delivers clear, readable, and practical information.
YUTORIA Inc. aims not only to preserve daruma as a traditional good-luck charm, but to rework it for modern life and business, and spread its appeal both in Japan and abroad.
Daruma are vessels for wishes. They make a goal visible and hold one’s resolve to pursue it. And through the image of rising again no matter how many times it falls, this culture has long supported a positive, resilient spirit in people and organizations.
Through Daruma Times, we will carefully convey the meaning and background behind daruma, and bring the value of this Japanese cultural resource to more people around the world.

A Living Culture That Serves Life
Japan's culture and traditional crafts —
reborn as icons of Japan.
The essence of Japanese culture isn't only beauty for decoration. It has quietly stood beside life's and work's turning points, supporting people's actions and relationships — that's the strength of what we call a “culture that works.”
We translate inherited craftsmanship and aesthetics into value that endures within today's life and economy. Starting with daruma, we are building a sustainable cycle where fair compensation flows back to the makers.
Flagship Brand
Fill your space. Find your world.
YOHΛKU TOKYO is a lifestyle brand that reworks Japan's traditional daruma culture through a contemporary lens. Media
Get to know daruma,
and Japan looks a little different.
We visit the regions where daruma are made, listen to the voices of makers, and record daruma's place in prayer and everyday life today. Daruma Times is a publication that opens the door to Japanese culture, with daruma as its starting point.

What draws me so strongly to Japanese culture is that it isn't only about beauty for decoration — it's a "culture that works," one that has quietly stood beside life's and work's turning points, supporting how people act and relate to one another.
Daruma have a participatory ritual called me-ire — painting in the eyes. You paint one eye while making a wish, and the other once it's achieved. I believe this sense of ritual is only growing more meaningful in an age of AI and digitalization.
Daruma is only our first flagship work. Over the medium to long term, we aim to become a hub for Japanese culture — translating the essential value of tradition into modern language and experiences, and building a system that lets the culture industry sustain itself.
A cycle where fair compensation flows back to the makers. A distribution that carries culture accurately to the world. That's the shape of the industry YUTORIA wants to build.
